Albany Law School was featured in amNY, following Governor Kathy Hochul’s signing of the historic Anti-Harassment in Reporting Act, to protect countless children and families across New York State from a broken child abuse reporting system.
Professor Cecka has advocated for this critical reform for more than a decade. With PKPR’s support, Dale was positioned as a leading advocate for the cause through strategic media placements, op-eds, and direct engagement with policymakers, including a trip to the Governor’s office to argue in favor of the legislation.
In her amNY op-ed, Professor Cecka wrote: “…anonymous reports aren’t harmless — they traumatize children and families. They trigger unannounced home visits, school interrogations, and, in some cases, children being strip-searched without a parent present. This new law will change the lives of vulnerable New Yorkers and finally put an end to a practice that has traumatized families for far too long.”
