Dear Dyslexia in The Hill, Education Week

Dear Dyslexia made its national debut on October 17th at a pop-up exhibit and press conference on Capitol Hill sponsored by Representative Julia Brownley (D-CA), co-chair of the House Dyslexia Caucus. Dear Dyslexia founder Gil Gershoni and Representative Larry Bucschon (R-IN) were among the speakers who highlighted the importance of changing perceptions of dyslexia from a disability to a hyper-ability. Coverage included The Hill (“Dear Dyslexia Project plastering Capitol with postcards with a message”) and Education Week (“Disability or ‘Superpower’? The Push to Change Mindsets About Students With Learning Differences”).

PKPR Client: Gil Gershoni

PKPR secured the participation of more than 25 prominent leaders and celebrities with dyslexia—including Alyssa Milano, Greg Louganis, and Captain Underpants creator Dav Pilkey — as ambassadors for a national awareness campaign. Each contributed personal, illustrated postcards detailing their experiences with dyslexia, inspiring over 2,000 submissions from across 30+ states.

The campaign culminated in a Capitol Hill press conference to spotlight dyslexia awareness and push for education reform. Media outreach generated coverage in top policy and education outlets like The Hill and Education Week, reaching key decision-makers. A complementary social media strategy drove nearly 500,000 impressions, amplifying the campaign’s impact well beyond traditional media.
