“The conference trying to crack tech’s race problem”

With the lack of diversity in the tech industry dominating the headlines, media turned out in full force for Focus 2014. Many of the articles highlighted how Focus is leading efforts to bring more women and people of color into the industry with a Wired headline hailing Focus as “the conference that’s trying to crack tech’s race problem.”

Speakers confirmed for the conference this October in NYC include FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn and Facebook Head of Global Diversity Maxine Williams. It was founded by entrepreneur Kathryn Finney, who was named a Champion of Change by the White House for her leadership in breaking down barriers in the tech industry.
